Jail warder

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has revealed the latest job vacancy details. There are 305 jail warder vacancies.

The minimum age limit is 18, and the maximum is 25. The candidates should have passed 10+2 grades/or its equivalent from an authorized university/board.

Inspector-General of Police

The first step is to write the civil services exam called UPSC. After passing and undergoing training, you will become any of the posts like SI, ASI, DSP, and ASP. Then after serving in any of these fields, you will be promoted.

Selection Process

The selection process includes:

  • Written examination.
  • Physical measurement.
  • Physical efficiency test.

Written examination

The aspirants looking to get a police job should take on either the UPSC exam or Punjab police selection v=commission exam. If you are trying for UPSC, you should write a group 1 exam under it. Based on your ranking, you will get a different post.

The physical efficiency test is to determine one’s efficiency to fit physically. It shows his nature of handling the accused in case of urgency.

For male candidates (excluding ex-servicemen):

  • Running – 1400 meters to be completed in 6 minutes 30 seconds (only one chance).
  • Long jump – Aspirants should qualify by 3.80 meters within three chances.
  • High jump – Aspirants should qualify by 1.15 meters within three chances.

For ex-servicemen:

  • Running – 1400 meters to be completed in 9 minutes.
  • Ten sit-ups in 2 minutes.

For female candidates:

  • Running – Should complete 800 meters in 4 minutes 30 seconds.
  • Long jump – Aspirants should qualify by 3.25 meters (3 chances).
  • High jump – Aspirants should qualify by 1 meter (only one chance is given).

 For ex-service women:

  • Physical measurements
  • Running – Aspirants should complete 800 meters in 8 minutes.

Once the physical measurement and physical efficiency test is over, there will be a call for an interview.


Once you got selected in the first three rounds, the final and important round is interview round. It is the toughest round in the entire selection process. If you succeed here, then no one can stop you from becoming an IPS officer. You should be mentally prepared to pass the hurdles.
